Cost of optimizing site and SEI

Not sure if this question is relevant here or not....

I have a website made in Wordpress - not the best and I know it's clunky but built it with the little knowledge I have and gleaned. I now don't have time to update and keep on top so looking for someone to make it better and optimize the site

Also looking to enhance by using SEO which I know very little about.

Has anyone used 3rd party services and roughly what kind of cost would I be seeking to pay....

You will probably find that people charge quite a lot for this. You may consider learning the tricks yourself. I did it a number of years back and it involved doing things like adding keywords to every image, and link making sure the header had loads of useful data in, being friendly to robots who index your site, etc. There must be plenty of guides out there. Of course you can pay someone to do it for you - they tend to charge at least as much as Web developers themselves.

I'd save the money and invest your time instead. Look at webdev forums and see what is working for other people. Professional SEO is expensive and not always guaranteed to work.

Doing it the long way also means you will be able to keep up to date with algorithmic changes made by the majors and know exactly which changes to make to your own site.
