Forgot Wi Fi password!

After updating my iPad it asked me for my Wi-Fi password which I have forgotten!
Can I reset password on my router to sort this issue?
Any advice appreciated, thank you.

password should be on the back of the router unless you have changed it manually

if you have changed password you will be able to change in router settings. router address/password should be on the back of router. which makes changing your wifi passcode a bit pointless

Or just login to the router and look at what the password is in the wireless settings.

Assuming the OP remembers the router password.

The chances are where somebody is asking this question they will be using the default login, SSID, and WiFi password all of which are usually on the router itself somewhere as post #2 already mentioned but it is handy to note how easy it is to retrieve from Windows.

I really am averagely bright, however when advice is 'Or just login to the router and look at what the password is in the wireless settings' how do I just 'log in' to the router? it's easy if you know how!
I've tried several times but am unable to locate it?
Apparently I'm connected through 'ethernet' not my Virgin wi fi so looks like I'm f***ed!
I genuinely appreciate all your advice but am ready to bang my head against the wall.
To recap, my I Pad is asking for Wi Fi password, I think some weeks ago I changed password from the one located on router, it is very rare for me not to remember passwords but on this occasion I've forgot to record it or remember it?
