What to do with £50K

My wife and I have zero debt, no mortgage and a very healthy upside on our house which we purchased for £750K and which is now valued at £1.3M.
We both work with a combined gross income of £170K. We are both 55 and not considering retirement at this time.
We have bank savings of £150K and one of us has a final salary pension scheme entitlement. We are fortunate in that we have a spare £50K in the coffers.
Should we invest or go on holiday?

Go on holiday - happy memories are worth far more than even more capital

Gift yourselves the joy of the holiday if that's what "floats your boat" and a charity the chance to bring joy to others?:A

I wonder, does anyone actually dare to fly Economy?0 -
Go on a street-food/hawker-food safari to Singapore but fly First and stay in a decent suite in a good hotel.

£5-10k on a holiday, the rest invest, rinse and repeat.0

In your position I would invest inside pension wrappers, to bring you both within the basic tax rate, if possible.
Then I would plan, and take the holiday of a lifetime. You might be considering a round the world cruise, safari, drive through America/Australia or whatever, to celebrate your 60th, but from personal experience - do it now while you both can.
You don't know what is around the corner:o

OK, so I'm not allowed to use the 4-letter P word. Let's say that the OP is " 'avin' a larf " instead."I don't mind if a chap talks rot. But I really must draw the line at utter rot." - PG Wodehouse0
