Hi all,we are traveling to London as a family of five. Two adults, a 17, 15 and 13 year old between 24th - 26th July 2016.
What's the cheapest way to travel around London? I have seen the Oyster card but someone has told me about using Contactless.......any help appreciated. Thanks :rotfl::rotfl::)

I've just come back from a few days in London and contactless payment was very simple to use. However, if you plan your visits sensibly (and assuming nobody has a disability) the cheapest way to get around is to walk.
If you combine, say, Westminster Abbey/Trafalgar Square/ Houses of Parliament/London Eye/National Gallery you won't need any transport as opposed to going from the V&A to the Tower of London and then on to Madame Tussauds which will have you needing to get backwards and forwards across the city.0 -
Thanks, how does Contactless work and how much is it? Can you do this as a family or do you all need to be contactless individually?0

I found this site very helpful - it even includes a little video showing you how to do it.

All contactless fares are adult fares.
There is no facility to pay for a child's fare using contactless.
Read more about young people's travel:
Those are just two pertinent points.
Also remember that all London buses no longer accept cash fares.0 -
Each traveller needs a separate contactless payment card.

I'm so sorry, I didn't realise that. Apologies for the misinformation.:o0 -

Great comment about planning your itinerary. You can 'waste' a lot of time criss-crossing London from one attraction to another and back again.0
