Perhaps some information about what sort of holiday you are booking might be helpful?0

Telling us the tour company might help.
My assumption is that it depends. There's no "law" that dictates how they should price this up.0 -
Depends on the tour operator and their policies
Remember as well that 'free' child prices may be paid for by charging the adults more
A travel agent should work out the cheapest combination for you - if you are booking independently then that's your job.0 -

It will say when you book whether or not the hotel offers free child places. It's not available at every hotel and/or every time-period. Don't obsess over it anyway, at the end of the day it's the total price that matters.0 -
Don't ignore what Jet2 did to Mr Huzar and his family.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

You need to check the hotel details to see if they offer price child places. They are limited, and may a have gone by now.
At the end of the day it's the overall price you need to be looking at, not whether you've got a free child place.0 -
Watch out for the usual con trick of charging "underoccupancy" fees with free child places.0
