Rejected for the Halifax Clarity card?

in Credit cards
So I'm a little confused here. Early this year I applied for the Lloyds Avios credit card and was rejected. I assumed it was down to my age and lack of a real credit history. I was accepted for an Aqua card that I used for around a month and then I applied for the Lloyds Avios again with a few different details such as my change of income and things, and was accepted.
Now I've recently applied for the Halifax Reward current account, and after presenting my ID in branch and everything, I received an email this morning informing me that I was accepted. Now whilst I was looking at the Avios cards those few months ago, I liked the idea of the Clarity card too, and I just applied for it and was instantly rejected. Despite having quite a high credit score, adding the same if not higher income than I put with the Lloyds card. And Lloyds own Halifax..
Where have I gone wrong?

Sounds like a lack of credit history. Build this up by using the Avios card regularly.
And ignore your credit score. As you've found, it means nothing.0 -
One factor could be that you have already two credit cards and what your current credit/income ratio is? Also you applied for 4 credit cards in the last 5 months.03/26: OD £1200 600 500, CC £3914 3317, family £3100, loan £5618 5306 5036- total: £13832 12323 12003, mortgage £58,243 £57,766 571140

I was rejected twice before I was accepted. Just try again in a few months.0

Use your Reward current account for 3 months and then visit the branch and see if you have been pre-approved for credit card. My pre-approved offer on my Lloyds account came up just after over 3 months.0

StarM are the pre approved offers only shown in branch, you don't see them online within Internet banking?

Sometime it does but not always. In my case I was pre-approved for the Lloyds card but didn't show up on internet banking.
My Halifax internet banking did show pre-approved offer for credit card.
They both work on risk indicator 1-10. If you ask in branch some advisers will they tell your score some won't. Telephone banking will not have details of your risk score.
LBG + TSB also do Credit Policy Decline (CPD) if you have that on your account then they will not lend any credit facility.0 -
I'll ask next time I'm in, I have overdrafts on Lloyds and TSB so don't think I would have CPD.
Thanks for info

I can't get my head round some decisions. I have 2 current accounts, one is a Halifax account I've had for over 20 years and I use it for a couple of long standing DDs. I put money across to it every month and it has a £500 overdraft that I don't use. My other account is with Bank of Scotland and this is my everyday account and has my wages going in every week and all the bills etc coming out. It has a £750 overdraft limit and I have been into it twice in the last 12 months. I applied for a credit card with BoS and was rejected yet Halifax said "Yes ok, have a £3,000 limit" - mystifying :-)0

If you think you have a decent history with no recent negative points, try appealing the decision.
Always worth a try. Make full use of the credit search they do on you! I suggest requesting statutory credit reports and sending it to them with an appeal letter. The worst that can happen is they saying 'No' again, and might even tell you why.
