Multi Car insurance

Options
I am hoping to take over a nice car but am a bit intimidated by the insurance premiums for a second car. Does anyone have any tips on multi-car insurance? For my first car, I have 9 years' no claim bonus but I am not sure how and if that will apply to the second car.

As a rule you will have to start from scratch for NCB on the 2nd car.

Some insurers will allow you to apply the same NCB to 2 cars, as long as it's a single driver policy.

Your best bet might be a good broker who can negotiate a discount based on your good driving record.

It won't. First stop is your current insurer - hopefully you'll get a decent intro NCB on the second car.

Some years ago , when insurance rules were changed, my husband decided that it would be to my advantage if, instead of two cars being insured in his name, with me as a named driver, one should be in my name, with him being named.

The broker found a policy which allowed me to use the no claims from the car which we chose to re-insure with me as main driver.
  • Thanks for your replies. Stupidly I forgot about NCB on the second car which I assume has lapsed because the second car was off the road for so long (and SORN). NCB is so important.
  • Hello Teddysmum. Thanks for your comments. Would you mind telling me what broker it was.
