maybe a fox - I would use a camera linked to the web - they are quite cheap nowadays and very interesting what you see

I was trying this at the weekend, trying to convert my phone in to a motion sensitive camera. Unfortunately the wifi doesn't reach that far, and it would chew up my data in no time.

Foxes leave a path that looks similar to what it would look like if you rode a bicycle through your lawn!

That's exactly what it looks like but I've never seen a fox. Our cats never follow the path either. Looks like I'm going to have to stump up for a motion sensitive camera if I want to know. Thanks all, will keep you updated.

Badgers would leave a path wider than just a few inches. Could well be a fox, but the most obvious path across my own grass is made by pheasants coming from the wood, through the field next door, to hang out hopefully under the bird feeders on my trees!
  • Could be Pixies. They are active at the moment.

We have a neighbourhood cat that has worn a path in everyone's lawns as it does its rounds several times a day!

We are lucky to have both badger and fox, unfortunately due to rats we have cut down on putting down food for both.

If you reduce the amount you're feeding the foxes, they should sort out the rats for you.

You may have a bit of a wildlife highway, it's not uncommon for multiple species to follow the same routes especially between a source of food and a sheltered area.
