Missing CTF and can not locate it at all!

Hi,

Many thanks for stopping by and reading this Thread, i am hoping someone will be able to direct me into the right direction.

After filling out the missing CTF form online and waiting, numerous phonecalls to HMRC to be directed to departments who can not help and to be directed to phone numbers that do not work, i am having serious trouble locating my daughters CTF account details.

I have only ever had one piece of paper with these details on just after she was born 10 years ago and it seems i have mis-placed this information. I know my daughter qualified for this voucher and it was offered to her however due to one thing or another, i allowed the government or HMRC to place this into a account themsleves, which is what they did for my son 2 years earlier. I keep getting Annual balances from my Son's account however i have never recieved anything concerning my daughters.

It seems no one knows how to locate these details at all, after so many hours on the phone to HMRC and various other places, i am getting nowhere.

Can someone help in sharing any advice that may help me in locating this information please?

Many thanks

There was a thread on here a couple of years ago about someone in a similar position. They located the CTF after using their partner's details on the tracing service rather than their own.

    Hi HappyHarry,
Many thanks for the link however nothing seems to be working from that post a few years ago now, it seems the only way open to me is to keep trying to ring HMRC and to write to them too and see where i can get to on this problem i am experiencing.

I am glad it is not just me that has experienced problems obtaining the correct information from an old CTF, i wish i had sorted this out years ago when i was going to before life decided to throw you off that direction, as it can do sometimes.

If anyone else has any experience or helpful information to share, please do so as i am still trying to sort this out.

I have now filled out the online form twice, called HMRC numerous times, being directed from department to department with no one having a clue what to say or do.

How hard can it be for a company that sorted these CTF out for people yet they can not find any information concerning these CTF's and where they sent them, sounds so dodgy to me.

Have you tried tracing the CTF using your wife's details (or your details if you have already tried with hers)?

The updated information on the above is still indicating that the CTF can be traced using the form which is the same as mentioned in this article four years ago.

If you have exhausted all avenues, then you could try a formal complaint to HMRC or you might try a letter to your MP?

Well, after another morning of dead end phone calls, it looks like the only option open to us all now is to write for advice due to no one being employed or trained into giving the information needed on these Child Trust Funds. All connection to CTF's are obsolete and dead.

If you are in need of the address, here it is:

    HM Revenue & Customs
    Savings & Share Scheme's s0708
    P O Box 201
    Bootle
    L69 9AJ

I hope this is of use to anyone.

Many thanks for your answer, i have tried all these options open to us but nothing, my only avenue left is either writing to the address i just put up or contacting my local MP.

Do let us know how you fare in your quest - the information might be of use to others.

Are you happy to keep the CTF? You are aware that it is transferable to the more flexible JISA?

This is why i am trying to find out all the information i can as i want to transfer my kids CTF's into a Junior ISA so that hopefully the government will not use it to their advantage, which i am starting to think they already have with the dorment CTF's that are out there and people have either forgotten about or can not get their hands on due to the same problem as i am having.

I will try and keep you posted as to how i get along on my quest for CFT's!!

Well, after twice filling out the form online, numerous phonecalls with no luck and just as i was about to send away a letter asking about my daughters CTF, i received a letter today from HMRC confirming my daughters account, yeah!!!

Problem now over and now the headache of sorting out what JISA to use for my kids.

I just wanted to say a HUGE thankyou to everyone who looked at my post and esp those that commented.

    Thnakyou.

A real Robert the Bruce. :)

If you are looking at cash, Halifax is still offering 4% if the registered contact also has an ISA with them.

Otherwise Nationwide and Coventry offer 3.25%.

If you are looking at stocks and shares, other posters have mentioned Charles Stanley for self select -
