Old Style Tuesday 24 May

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning everyone.
A bit dull in Glasgow but I'm off to Manchester on the 7.09 train. I've got a meeting there and getting on the 15.16 back to Glasgow. Having a work meeting is a bit strange.
I've no idea what food will be, I expect Trans-Pennine breakfast will appear at some point on a trolley.
Happy Tuesday everyone.0 -
Morning everyone
Gers - thanks for starting us off.
Hugs to those that want/need them x
Happy birthday for those that have a birthday x
DH up and getting ready for work. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly. Washing ready to go out on the line, will do that shortly.
Now light, blue sky and sunshine here already, forecast looks ok for the day, so hopefully will stay dry.
Dinner last night was tortellini/ravoli in sauces, with breaded chicken portions and a side order of stuffed mushroom. I had grilled sausages with my pasta - the breaded chicken and sausages were left from the weekend that didn't get used, they needed to be used up - but now I'm not sure what we will be eating tonight - I wanted to do an online food order to be delivered Wednesday evening and there was no slots left, tried the click and collect too, but nothing available, so have had to have a delivery for tonight, it's a bit early for going away on Thursday, but there's no choice and I don't really have time to go and do a food shop before going away Thursday morning. Hoping I've ordered enough of the right sort of thing, some to leave here and some to take with us.
As expected work yesterday was a manic Monday - the morning went by in a blur, then the afternoon was nearly as bad and I dealt with some customers and after I'd finished with them looked at the clock and it was already 3pm - don't know where the day went! Hoping today is going to be similar.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning, we have sunshine here and, as ever, I have washing to go out.
I'm 65 today and am having a day off, though will be going out for lunch with my two closest friends at work.
OH is taking DS to the orthotics place, and will cook tonight.
Hope everyone has a good dayI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning All
Safe journey Gers.
Speky - I'm using a tool especially for the paving, an 'L' shaped chappie that is particularly sore on the hands! Did an hour last night and I can see the difference but a long way to go.
Happy Birthday AOD! :bdaycake:
Washing on the line as it's another lovely day, yesterday was just glorious. Went to the dentist on the way home then spent about 2 hours in the garden - don't know what I find to do as it really isn't very big.
There were some plants left at school from the fair so I got 2 rose bushes for £2 each (no idea what I'm going to do with them) and 2 trays of 6 Gazanias for £2 too - they are in long planters under the front window.
csarina - hope you feel better soon.
Take care. XX0 -

I hope you don't go across the Pennines - that would be the long way from Glasgow to Manchester!2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Morning all,
Happy Birthday AOD - hope you enjoy your day.
Got to target at SW last night with a 1.5lbs loss. Feels great
Swear it was the scanbran I had last week. Imagine a carpet tile spread with cheese triangle and cucumber and you are halfway there. Did the job though. Spent some time planting our rockery/pond plants yesterday plus got some bedding plants half-price, so another big tub on the patio.
I'm at the gym this morning then at the charity until 2pm. Need to pick up our euros on the way home plus some toiletries for the holiday. Luckily I have some B**ts points to use
Will go running with DS2 when he's back from school later and DH has an audition for the next amdram play at the church.
Sweet chilli chicken with rice tonight (SW recipe) so I best get the chicken thighs out.
Have a great day all

Happy Birthday ancientofdays :bdaycake:
I was going to post yesterday morning but had to see the dentist at 10am – I hate going and couldn't think past the appointment
I could do with a bridge but that's not going to work because the other front tooth is already supporting the one next to it (bridge) so it'd have to be a plate – which I don't get on with. Although the tooth is wobbly, it's apparently not going to fall out any time soon. So as long as I don't bite down hard on it or get whacked in the face again, lol, it should stay in for a while yet. When I got home I decided that was enough stress for one day, took Scampi for a walk then gave myself the rest of the day off, lol.
So now I have a lot to catch up with. The washing machine's whirring away, two more loads to do after this one. Weather looks OK so I'll hang it outside. The shopping's coming between 11-12, I keep an eye out for the truck so I can do the 'stranger coming to the door, keep calm' routine with Scampi when it pulls up. So I'll be pottering in the kitchen for anything up to an hour. I have yesterday's paperwork to do later then I'll be hoovering and dusting, then taking the carpet up on the stairs and landing.
