Whilst not disgreeing with your advice, setting up DDs won't help if there isn't money in the account to cover them when they become due. It's difficult enough for anybody to manage sharply fluctating income without MH problems - I hope she'll accept help from someone with stretching her income to cover lean periods.

Also be aware that there can be problems claiming JSA if you say you're a supply teacher - some information on that here.

I believe the OP said that his mother had a temporary contract rather than was doing supply work - may be wrong though and she is covering on a supply basis. :)

Just so good to see some good news here. I read this Thread through, didn't post any advice because it seemed to me that you were getting much more than I could add to.

I am impressed with the dedication you and your sister have shown to your mum under the circumstances though. I wish you all a brighter future and a happy ending to your mum's troubles.
I think this job really needs
    a much bigger hammer.

Though OP did say she wasn't going to be paid during the summer holidays so pay will be end of July for about 2 weeks work then nothing until end of September.

This would be and should be something for OP to consider.

I'm so pleased you got your mum back into her home and paid off her debt. It's lovely to hear of family helping each other and having a good outcome.

I wonder if your mum will be more open with the outreach provision than she is with you, as sometimes it's easier to admit you need help to a stranger?

I have actually got tears in my eyes.., so so glad that just once the system relented for someone in need.

Thank you for persisting for your mum. You've created a little miracle. And no small thanks as well to the HA.

That is amazing! I am so glad that you were able to get this sorted out for your mum, and so quickly too. She is very lucky to have someone who will do this for her, even though she has not been speaking to you for some time. You are clearly an exceptional woman :)
