So is First Direct good or not ?

I've just opened an account. So far underwhelmed. Such a slow process to get the account up and running.

I didn't know you'd replied to my question, but yeah they are a part of HSBC, but in all fairness they certainly don't behave like them!

IMO, you're much better off with HSBC Advance than First Direct.

First Direct use HSBC systems, but their internet banking and mobile app are rubbing. They've certainly lost their appeal where most people now use technology rather than calling.

Barclays have the best mobile app/internet banking IMO.

They're alright. Nothing magical as websites and Martin claim. I don't like having to call for things other banks allow me to do online. Like M&S, too many passwords as well as a silly keypad. Too much paper. The website isn't great either. If not for the regular saver, it wouldn't be a bank I would recommend first.
