Paragon- can I claim PPI refund from 2000?

Hi all,
Anyone know if i will be able to claim PPI from a loan I had with Paragon in 2001-ish?
I have no paperwork (had a huge bonfire when the loans were settled when I sold my house!)
I vividly remember being told that I could only have the loan granted providing I accepted their PPI. The PPI was only valid for the first ten years of the loan, but was included in the repayment amount, which meant I was to continue paying for it- with interest- for twenty years!! That's why I remember being really cheesed off that I had to accept it. As far as I know, the entire cost of the PPI was paid off when I settled the loan on the sale of my house.
Thanks in anticipation.

You can complain about any PPI from any provider if you have reason to.
However, more than one and half decades on, you are totally reliant on the provider still having any records in order to progress any complaint, In addition, the complaint reason you give is one of the weakest possible since you can provide no evidence that you were told it was compulsory.
In the first instance, you need to contact the provider and establish if there is still any record of this finance...0 -
Most Paragon loans were put in place via brokers. You would need to complain to the broker. However, most brokers were not regulated until January 2005 and dont need to consider earlier sales being complained about.
That said, if it was a Paragon PPI product that was sold (whether broker or Paragon), then the plevin ruling will likely apply. This is not as good as an upheld complaint as it is only a part refund.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
