Help with Washing Line Pulley and Winch

Hi, Due to several reasons I need to put up a washing line with a pulley and a winch (the crank i think it's called, that you turn around and the line tightens).
I can't PULL the line anymore when the washing is on it, it is too heavy.
I have no experience in this at all and am a little confused.
I have two anchor hooks firmly attached to two brick walls opposite each other about 10 feet high.
Do i really need two pulleys on each side? in which case i will need 2 of those cleats to tie the top up to. Why can i not just tie the rope on to one of the anchor hooks on one side?
Also can someone please show me how to use and install a winch and what kind of rope to buy, diameter, material, etc.
