funding for 1st aid courses?

Options
hi there, i am currently in the process of setting up a business as a strength and mobility course and think it would be prudent to do some form of first aid course. the red cross run plenty near me.
i was wondering if anyone knows of any funding sources that would cover the cost, or some of the cost of any course for a start up business?
Many thanks.
Neil.

I suspect you're on your own - businesses are expected to be financially viable entities

There is no funding - you are expected to be able to meet your own costs. Surely something of this nature would need to consult with at least the HSE to ensure safe working practice?

If you can't find the money, join a volunteer group where you are taught it anyway, like Scouts or even St Johns etc. The network of folk you'll meet can't hurt your fledgling business at all.
  • yeah i already do it on a voluntary basis but the group have enough first aiders already.
i am fully aware a business needs to be a financially viable entity(what an absurd comment to pass) but i'm also aware there are start up grants available for some business expenses. just didnt know if a first aid course would be one of them or not.

No. Why would it be? It isn't essential for most lines of work, and those that it is a large part of aren't funded anyway.

What is your current age & situation? EG If you are unemployed and looking to get off the dole by starting your own business it may be worth asking your Job Centre adviser - they can make discretionary small grants & also have a range of employment schemes that may help with this

If you are young it may be worth approaching the Princes Trust

Even if you are eligible for neither there may still be options worth investigating. Have a look through

Personally I would think that it was essential that you had some basic first aid knowledge if wanting to work in this kind of area but HSE guidelines should help you to confirm the situation

    Good luck
