No, I don't know your condition or pain level any more than I do for anyone else.
Neither do you know my issues or the extent of the OP's condition which is why I take exception to you saying 'i am the same as yourself but alot worse'.
You have absolutely no way of knowing whether you are a little or a lot better or worse off than the OP - so why say you are 'a lot worse'?:hello:0 -

As already said to help the OP, positive mind set.
But no doubt you just come back with why did you say " a lot worse"0 -

Have a look at some of the research into the use of amitriptyline for helping nerve pain and maybe discuss this with your GP.
.
Amitrypline certainly helped me manage acute sciatica pain over the course of a year .
It took a couple of weeks to kick in but was very effective.0 -
OP take a look at Robin McKenzies Treat Your Own Back book .
Not going to cure your problem but will aid you to keep your posture correct and understand the problem .0 -
I don't, at present, have your back issues but I do have the arthritis in my knees which is flaring up at present and I'm going for an x ray next week. I've had great success from osteopathy in the past and in fact I'm off to start treatment again with new person later today. If you can find the money I think it could be really worth it.
However, even the NHS offers a variety of treatment for arthritis of the knees before you need to consider an operation so you need to ask for a referral to a rheumatologist to investigate all the treatment options open to you. Just seeing your GP isn't enough.0 -

Has it helped you?
How long was the recovery process after surgery?
Thanks.
7 months bed rest after 3 infections. Nothing to do with the hospital, I acquired them in rehab. Op was great though and although I am just about getting back on my feet, it is the world of difference.
It can be scary to have an op, but if you need it, then you need it.
Normally recovery is around 8 weeks, mine was a worse case scenario but I'm still fine and have worked through it.0 -

Seriously? Hush up those fingers. They want reassurance from people who have had similar experiences, not some troll telling them what to do.0 -

hi,
Thanks I will mention this to my gp about a rheumatologist as so far I have been referred twice to physiotherapy of which they saw me a few times at the hospital and then signed me off with some exercises to do for my back. I had an xray on knees some time ago as they were hurting a bit and then they didnt give much trouble for a while but since my back went on me again my knees have been hurting more as well. I know the nhs has lots of cut backs and it seems resources are limited but I will find out though.
It would be good if I could self refer rather then having to rely on a gp to do this but dont think we can. I say this as have to wait a month for an appointment, I mean to get an appointment, not just my surgery but its like this now in our areas. Some gps only refer for certain things as well. but I will find out. thanks.0
