Advice for car accident claim

Hello everybody - I am hoping somebody could give me some advice.
My son was recently involved in a car accident. A lad on a quad bike tried to overtake him while he was turning right at a junction. Very good independent witnesses and police involvement who reassured my son that he was not to blame.
However, my son cannot get anywhere with his claim because his high excess is pretty much the value of his written off car and the quad driver has not informed his insurance company despite the police going round his house and telling him to put his hands up to it.
Insurance company not being very helpful and appear reluctant to progress the claim because the lad's insurance company have not been informed officially of the claim and now my son's car renewal is due, it has gone up by several hundreds of pounds because of a pending claim.
I would really appreciate any advice that anybody may have and thank you all in advance.

Your Son can claim directly against the Quad Bikes Insurance. If necessary he can issue a court claim against the Quad Bike Insurers. There would then be no excess to worry about and your Son can claim the repair cost, if less than the current market value.
If your Son has the Quad Bike registration number, he can find the Insurance details on Askmid.
Once your Son has resolved this accident claim, his Insurers will note the claim as settled non fault. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0 -
Thank you Huckster for your reply. I will pass on this information to my son.0
