Credit Card Protection On Balance Transfers

Hi everyone,

My credit card company have a 0% balance transfer offer. I want to make a purchase, if I transfer the balance to my current account and purchase with my debit card, will the purchase be covered by credit card protection (it's over £1000)?

My guess is no, but I wanted to ask.

No, transferring money from a credit card to a current account is regarded as a money transfer rather than a balance transfer, so check the terms of the offer to see if it covers that.

However, even if it does, then you wouldn't gain any section 75 protection as the purchase itself is by debit card.

The best way of achieving the protection with minimal upfront outlay would be to acquire a credit card with 0% on purchases.
