Clothes Selling Websites

Hello all :) I'm new to the forum and looking for some ideas re selling clothes online. I hope this is in the right place; if not, I'll move if someone could please point me the right direction!

I've sold a few things on ebay over the years but never had much profit from it, and currently have an item of clothing listed as BIN but open to offers which is barely getting and views and only two watchers..given the brand, type and condition of the item I was expecting more interest if I'm being honest (!)...but maybe I've priced it too high or had unrealistic expectations...

I'm just wondering if any of you know of any other websites to sell clothes on? I've heard of a few such as vinted and preloved, but no idea if they are legitimate or not. I'm considering just sending the item to the charity shop but I'm saving up at the moment and I feel like there is some value in it, so would like to try to sell it ideally.

Sorry if this is too long and sorry again if I'm in the wrong place- I will move asap if I am!

I can't help with other websites, but have you priced your item correctly? Have a search (using the advanced search tab) and find out what 'completed' items have sold for.

A really good photograph is important too.

Agree with the comments above. Fashion comes and goes. There are stores that sell some designer labels brand new for far less than full price. Just because something costs £50 full price does not necessary mean you'd find people to pay even half of that. The problem is that if it does not sell on Ebay for the price you want, its unlikely you will get more for it on any other website.

I'd search and see what it has been selling for by searching completed searches. If items are selling for around the price you are offering then you need to look at the listing and photo to see if anything would put people off.

    Thank you both :)

theonlywayisup- I checked the completed listings and overpriced it slightly to give myself wriggle room if someone made any offers- I thought this was a good idea but maybe it has backfired. I did state in the listing that I was open to any offers though, so I don't know if I've put people off with the BIN price, or there's genuinely not much interest in the item. If it doesn't sell I may try again on ebay with a lower price.

Hollydays- I took clear photos in broad daylight so hopefully they are okay- I really hate photographing items for listings as it takes me ages and I would hate to have to do them again haha

mrcol1000- Just seen your post sorry! I buy on ebay a lot and occasionally sell so I know what you mean about the fashions changing.
With the completed listings- some went for around the price my listing is at, others didn't sell at all and not much in between.

Thinking about it now- I might just leave it for the remaining time at the current price, and if it doesn't sell, charity shop it. I'm keen to get rid as I'm de-cluttering for a move at the moment and can't really be mithered constantly re-listing and adjusting the price.

Thank you all for your help and comments :)

If the price on completed (sold) listings is £50, don't price yourself out of the market. Remember, a lot of people will view on their mobiles and by default they don't read the description. Price it at the lowest price you will accept, let's say £25 in the hope that enough people see it's a bargain and will bid against each other.

If you were a bidder, would you look at that £50 dress if it starts at £55 or would you bid on the £25 bargain?*

*but only price it low if you don't mind the only person bidding at that price to win.

I hadn't thought of people looking on their mobiles and missing the description, thanks.
I've just adjusted to the minimum price I'd be happy with- any lower and it just wouldn't be worth to me after fees and whatnot.

Good luck, do let us know how you get on. Hopefully it won't be for the lowest price, but assuming you've taken on the other points about good photos/description you should be fine.

Also try and put as many search words into into the title-don't use words like" stunning" as no one ever searches for " stunning dress"
