Friend of mine bought in Worthing and have another friend waiting for Bovis to finish his new build home in Worthing too. Hadn't been to Worthing in a few years and recently went down to visit and I couldn't believe the difference, is really up and coming with lots of nice bars/restaurants opened up. If you can get onto any of the government schemes, I would recommend there.

Another recommendation for looking along the coast for somewhere to commute from to Brighton. Apart from London and Aberdeen there's no city more expensive to buy in the UK.

You really can't have picked a better place to demonstrate where buying's the most difficult game in town.

As westernpromise has pointed out, cheaper places are cheaper for a reason. That's because they're normal, not abnormal.

  • Haven't read the whole thread but I know S/O has been mentioned.

I've rented for 12 years due to one thing or another - and getting married- we never saved for a deposit.

We paid off all our debt and I fell pregnant.

During my mat leave we put our names down for some new build S/O and we were offered a 4 bed house.

The deposit was £4,500 and fees around £2000 which my parents gifted part.

It was perfect for us in current circumstances, when our income rises on my return to work we can buy more of the house and it's given us the space for our new family.
