MBNA Default 6+ Years

Hello all!

Hopefully a quick one for you.

I took out a credit card in my early 20's for a £750 MBNA card.

It defaulted at some point and I organised debt management.

Could have sworn I paid the final month, however turns out I didn't and moved out shortly after so no letters reached me.

According to Noddle, it defaulted again in Sept 2010, was sold off to Arrow Global LTD in Feb 2012, and has proceeded to default every month until now. As I was genuinely unaware of this, and have only recently discovered the continual disappointment of credit scoring, I have suddenly discovered that the money I was paying hasn't gone towards the credit card, and balance (again according to Noddle) is double what i was to begin with - £1431.

I'm not entirely sure what to do about the situation... It's been so long, I've never had a letter or phone call... Ideas anyone?

Well, what letter or call could it be if you moved?
It's absolutely unclear what grounds you had to believe that you paid the full amount owed off. And where exactly has the money gone if not "towards the card"?

What do you want to achieve? You can demand full history and proofs from the current lender and refuse to pay if they are unable to provide this. Similarly, if they don't have proofs you can try contacting CRAs and challenging the apparently incorrect information in your credit files.

If the default date on CRA is showing Sept 2010 then I would just leave it as it should remove off from your credit report this Sept. 6 years will be over.

If doesn't get in touch with CRA.

Don't acknowledge it, wait for the six years to pass and then it will be statute barred. You haven't got that long to wait.

I only have a mobile phone and the number hasn't changed in 16 years, so a simple phone call would have kept me in the loop and I would have of course set them straight, sorry that wasn't clear before :)

And I just wanted some advise on what do do as it's going back a while and I don't think I still have the statements from DRD to prove I paid it, and a different bank too. Sorry I didn't explain that, I was just keeping it as short as I could.

On the credit score site, it shows the MBNA as one default which appears under 'closed accounts' and the rest of the default under 'open accounts' under a company called 'Arrow Global', who I've never spoken to. Do you guys think this would have any bearing on the six years thing? I can upload a picture if it helps?

Thank you all for the advise so far. :)
