Asda Credit Card: Manual Payments reduce DD?

can anyone confirm that they have an Asda credit card and that you can have a DD set up for the full amount, but that if you make manual payments shortly after the statement is produced it will reduce the amount that will be taken by Direct Debit?

i have a DD for the full amount set up, as standard, for me, for a spending card. but i want to be able to make earlier payments as & when. don't want to then pay the full balance by DD too, as per Amex, and i understand occasionally some other cards.

Why don't you set up the direct debit for minimum payment?

Doesn't seem much point in having a full direct debit if you are going to continually check and make payments anyway?

fair question, but i may not do it "continually".. point is if payments reduce the DD i can proceed as planned.
i'm guessing someone here will know for sure:).

What happens if you make a manual payment, and depending on when you make it in the statement cycle, should be found in one or both of:

    1. The monthly statement.

    2. The DDI confirmation letter Asda sent you when you set the DD up.

Have you checked the statement? Pretty often they have the information you want.
E.g. Halifax: "Manual payments received 4 clear working days before the payment due date will reduce or stop the D/D [sic]..."

and i have a letter from 10th April that confirmed the correct bank details, but does not refer to the DD amount changing if payment by alternative methods is received.
