the quote for the replacement is as follows:
.Ideal instinct 24 kw combi boiler with 3 years warrenty, clock and flue
.magnetic filter and chemicals
.upward piping kit
.flue high level plume kit
.All pipe and fittings and
Labour comes to £1160

It's very cheap because the boiler is very cheap. It could be a good buy if the boiler remains reliable, but there are no guarantees after the 3 year warranty is up.

I wouldn't recommend a 24kw boiler for any house. It's enough for heating, but you will wait a long time for lots of hot water in the winter. 32kw is a better compromise in my opinion.

Even at this cheap price, it's a lot of money down the drain if the installation isn't flushed through first, and your list of included items doesn't include a flush of the current system. If you don't flush the system, the pump will probably fail every couple of years or so.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.
  • You'll also probably void any warranty if you don't have the system cleaned first.

The boiler will probably cost the installer £400-450. They'll take a day to fit it, and the extra bits needed won't cost a great deal, say £100-150. The quote's quite fair.

Why people think a boiler replacement SHOULD cost £2k plus confuses me. It's a massive daily rate for anyone.

I had an ideal boiler in my house and hasn't been great, it might have changed over the years tho. Go for boiler with higher warranties IMHO.

Thats what plumbers charge! ok add £200 for a better boiler ie Vaillient with 7 yr gtee, thats still cheap. You cant bring it down to an "Hourly rate" ask any Gas safe plumber/installer. If it was BG you can add another £1k ie £3000 easily.
  • Ours came to about £1600 with a Worcester boiler which we have had no problems with.

What boiler is it hooked? and was it a straight replacement?

Have got a quote of around £2300 for
    - new worcester 28cdi, magnetic filter, Wave control system, power flush etc
    - couple of new radiator
    - moving the location of boiler too.

If you want a cheap to buy boiler that should come in around your price above then I would recommend Ravenheat, yes I know some will scoff but they have come on leaps & bounds over the past couple of yrs & I would fit one over Ideal every day of the week

I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.
