Best way to estimate usage for a new build

We have sold our property and are moving eventually to a new build
in another part of the country. To get the best deal how do we estimate our usage? I thought use figures from existing house as it is modern (12years) and approx same size as new one. Any thoughts?

It's as good a way as any. Alternatively you could use the EPC figures as an estimate. A thousand KWh here or there won't make a lot of difference to estimating who has the best tariff and you'll only end up paying for what you use anyway.
Don't forget that the builder will probably have had registered the house with a supplier so you'll be on a deemed contract with them when you move in unless you can sort it out beforehand.
Make sure you read the meters (Gas, leccy & water) as soon as you take possession and notify the suppliers as the meters are unlikely to be at zero if the bulder has been using the utilities during the build or commissioning.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
Yes, assume same useage as in your previous house. That way you factor in your own preferences on room temperatures, HW useage etc which can vary a lot from one family to another.0
