Unable to install Opera

I might never use it if I can get it, but trying to install Opera is a nightmare.
I have a vista ultimate laptop (32 bit) on which I have three browsers. IE is never used, chrome has been for several year and Slimjet for the last month.
Having read about Opera, despite taking the link from them, I only get as far as the little box in left corner. What could be going wrong?

Just tried downloading on Windows 7 machine with no problems.
+1 for Slimjet browser by the way.0 -
I can't be doing anything wrong can I?. The download came from their link, the little box that appears registers that something is happening. I usually right click it to open when done but that's as far as it goes. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Which browser are you using?
I have just successfully downloaded Opera using both Firefox and Slimjet from Opera's own web site and also via Softpedia.0 -

Then I will try once more, and left click, Watch this space.
Despite trying twice:-

Interestingly enough, I am not alone:-

Just a long shot but try downloading from an alternative site such as....
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/Browsers/Opera-for-Windows-without-Java.shtml#download
using the SP Secure Mirror (US) - 24.
It's a clean download i.e. no bundled cr*pware.0 -

Why a long shot? because it worked!.
As it progressed, I did look out for any unsuspecting checks and pulled back and changed from English USA to English UK, and pulled back from making opera my default search engine as despite what others say, I still prefer the look and feel of google.
So young man, if that who Gillor is, howcome that worked? .
Just give me a little while to explore and import my bookmarks over. I will be back and forth so keep your eyes open and thanks again.
PS, I don't seem to be able to find the place where I am able to import bookmarks. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Not so young I am afraid but thanks anyway. As to why it worked, more a question of why the direct Opera download didn't which could be for many reasons.
As Murphy's Law states "If builders built buildings the way programmers wrote programs, then the first woodpecker that came along would destroy civilization."PS, I don't seem to be able to find the place where I am able to import bookmarks.
Try the Opera Bookmarks Import & Export add-on.0 -
So far so good with Opera, but using BBC weather, a note say's flash played isn't installed, and on https://www.rail-alarm.com it says :-
Warning
Sound libraries could not be initialized. Either HTML 5 is not supported or Adobe Flash not installed.
I tried installing flash, it shows it has been downloaded but it isn't working. The fact that flash is on the way out, I'm not too bothered, but don't want sites to be telling me they can't function because etc. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
