63 plate Mitsubishi new engine HELP

Suggesting a dealer has the skills to replace an engine and not do a head gasket is ridiculous. They do a vast range of work and a couple of times now i've seen dealership mechanics put down as nothing but fitters - which seems odd considering it's them even the best of mechanics turn to when they are struggling to diagnose a fault!
They diagnose those faults by fitting parts until they get the right one.
Main dealer ''mechanics'' don't fix anything. They blindly follow what the computer tells them and then make customers pay for their guess work0 -
You're handing the car back, what does it matter.hprice1099 wrote: »but wouldn't that effect the future value? I wouldn't look twice at a car thats had a replacment engine.0 -

You do realise that the"Computer" you are talking about it more accurately referred to as a Diagnostics machine?
It gives the Tech a starting point.
I doubt many mechanics could have done the Cambelt and Inlet Manifold on my old car easily, Jaguar XJL.
Especially because modern diesels are so complicated most non dealer Techs or Diesel specialists wouldn't have a clue.0 -

+1
Mitsibushi will just supply the dealer with a new engine. They wont be interested in "bits". Easier and cheaper overall for them0 -

I just want rid of it now, have no confidence in it.
Why?
They're replacing the engine under warranty with a new Mitsubishi engine fitted by Mitsubishi technicians.
My dad bought a new SEAT in 2014 and it had TWO brand new engines fitted before it had 4,000 miles on the clock.
Engines are just a unit to a manufacturer. Easy for them to swap a faulty one out and replace rather than pull the faulty one apart and try to perform root cause analysis.0 -

Me neither, when we bought my wife car the seller, told us the engine had been replaced by BMW, with all supporting documentation. It made the car stand out amongst similar models for sale.0 -

You know you've lost an argument when you have to correct someone using the term computer instead of diagnostic machine :rotfl:0 -

You know you have won an argument when the person you are correcting tries to come back with a half baked smart comment.
Especially since Diagnostics machines are often stand alone or even if computer based they can't be used for anything other than running the Diagnostic software.0 -

The last sentence isnt correct because I have a windows 7 laptop than has the Delphi software on it and it doesn't stop it being used as a normal computer.
But I do agree it's very unlikely a garage will use this type of setup.0 -
So your Outlander has a three year warranty, and you slipped in just in time.
"New vehicles supplied in the UK by an authorised Mitsubishi Motors Dealer, and registered from 1st July 2015 have a 5 year, 62,500 mile warranty (whichever comes first). For vehicles registered prior to this date, please speak to your local dealer for details."
You can sell it, or
if you like the Outlander, you could trade it in for a later model with a longer warranty.
I have Four years Ten months to go. :cool:0
