How soon before switching?

What's the etiquette on opening new accounts and switching to other banks? Is there a certain amount of time an account has to be active before it can be switched? Bank 1 will obviously know you've used them when you switch to bank 2, but are there any rules to govern this?

It's really all about the t and c's - if there is no minimum specified then you are free to switch whenever you want, etiquette really does not come into it in my view!0

What's the etiquette for a bank in charging a customer an unauthorised overdraft fee? How long is it good manners for the bank to allow the customer's account to be overdrawn before a fee is applied? A week? Two weeks? Until payday?0
