If you are a business then a return is the buyers right, but they pay the postage . Wait and see what you get back.
Not a business. but I am willing to accept the return as a good ebayer, so long as in same condition as sold.

just heard back from the buyer stating that they had a "moment" and to accept their sincere apologies.

Ignore the case now. If you want to take a chance, thank the buyer and ask them if they would mind closing the case.
I get so many of these, from what you said, it sounded like one of my Monday mornings!0
