We're going to a concert at the Apollo Hammersmith.
Simple question - where would be the simplest place to stay - bearing in mind I don't know London at all. Do we stay within walking distance of the Apollo or travel to central London (how far is that?)...on a map it doesn't look far ...
(Yes... it may seem like a stupid question if you live in London or visit regularly, but I don't ... just wait 'til you're looking for accommodation in Wales and you've no idea how far things are on a map!!)

Hello
I have stayed at The Novotel in Hammersmith which is within close walking distance of The Apollo. The cost of the room was reasonable and breakfast was good, the usual self service with loads to choose from.
I strolled around Hammersmith shopping area last week while waiting to catch my bus back to Somerset and walked past the Holiday Inn (Express?) which is in King Street. This is also very close to the concert venue.
Alternatively book a hotel on the route of the number 9 or 10 buses as they operate to/from Hammersmith Broadway station which is across the road from The Apollo.
Last week I stayed at Imperial College, BEIT Hall of Residence, next to The Royal Albert Hall which has a bus stop for the quoted services very close by. The trip to Hammersmith is only a couple of miles.
I have also stayed at The Copthorne Tara, just off Kensington High Street and The Hilton Olympia which are on the suggested bus route.
Good luck.0
