How long to collect a debt?

They sent me one more letter with the same stuff on it
Now I've received a letter from another recovery service called Red, who have apparently been asked by Lowell to collect it (which is wierd, I thought Lowell were the collection guys)
Anyway, now they're saying the same thing and the letter says they're going to 'come round' if I don't organise a payment scheme
So I guess I just send them the same letter again0 -
I sent off a statue barred letter to RED and today i recived a letter saying how "disapointed" they are that i have taken the statue barred route. They say that it has now been passed to their specialist recoveries unit who will decide what route to take.
I am very very sure that a payment or acknowledgment of the debt has been made for well over seven years.
So what else can i do,just wait and see what happens next?0 -

Bluecoxy, please can you start your own thread, as you will get more help if you do that, but in the mean-time read
In particular item 2.14 on page 13.
Then locate the Trading Standards nearest their Office and send copies of the letter to the TS, to the OFT and the FCA plus your MP, with a complaint about this mob. look for a thread by pipk62 which has a list of places at the end.
Then send a copy of the complaint letter to the CEO with a list of places to whom you have sent the complaint. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -

"Disappointed" they may well be, but it's difficult to see what "other route" they can take.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Hi everyone
This is my first time at this chat room stuff....
I had a letter from a DCA in July wanting £600. I asked for some proof. They have just sent me a statement (took them 3 months to sent it) from a credit card. The last purchase was Oct 2001. After this date is late payment charges.
Please can anyone tell me how to reply
and if the 6 year thing apply's.
Many thanks:j0 -
Hi! :waves:
Yes, the six year thing applies. Send the letter detailed above.
Unless, of course, you used the card after this date? If that is the case, send a CCA (consumer credit act) letter. There is a great one about on here somewhere I'm just going to tootle off and find it.0 -
Dear Sir/Madam
Re:− Account/Reference Number 4563210025897412
With reference to the above agreement, we would be grateful if you would send us a copy of this credit agreement.
We understand that under the Consumer Credit Act 1974 (Sections 77−79), we are entitled to receive a copy of our credit agreement on request. We enclose a payment of £1.00 which represents the fee payable under the Consumer Credit Act.
We understand a copy of our credit agreement should be supplied within 12 working days.
We understand that under the Consumer Credit Act creditors are unable to enforce an agreement if they fail to comply with a request for a copy of the agreement under these sections of the Act.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully
Mr A N Other

I can remember my friend doing her Xmas food shopping and paying by debit card, it came to about £200 and they NEVER took the money out of her account, that was ten years ago. Never happens to me, such is my luck!!:rolleyes:Second and final LBM 01/01/11 Nearly got there but fell of wagon. HAVE to do it this time :mad:0
