It'll be their longest non stop flight at 14 hours and 40 mins.

Sounds like a good route to spend some Avios on upgrades. I wouldn't want to do that trip in a middle seat in World Traveller.0 -
You'd probably pay fewer Avios and "taxes" flying from Madrid on Iberia.Doshwaster wrote: »Sounds like a good route to spend some Avios on upgrades. I wouldn't want to do that trip in a middle seat in World Traveller.
Always worth opening up an Iberia loyalty account and crediting survey proceeds to it just in case.0 -
Good news. We had to go Air France via Paris last year. Yes, it's a hell of a long flight, but we had a better time than some of our fellow travellers who went with Iberia from Madrid. I was quite impressed with Air France.0

Wonder if they'll get the reverse of when Ryanair started flying to Santiago de compostela and supposedly and many disappointed customers finding they were in Spain and not chile.0

Look at Head for PointsTax will presumably be around £500. Remember that you can save considerable sums by booking the Iberia flight from Madrid to Chile instead.
If you book on iberia.com and not ba.com the Business Class tax figure should be around £150.

I'd missed that!
I was looking at Peru earlier this year though and the difference was stark!0 -

No, I don't think you would want to be in WT as it will be operated by a 787. However, Avios cost for redemption or upgrade will be high due to the length of the flight. Seems they are charging the same as they do for Sydney, as all flights over 7000 miles come into this category.0 -
the avios difference is huge too. Iberia abt 140K BA 300K0

IMHO BA are like the British Gas equivalent.
Possibly once great but now no more.
Huge brand name but totally crap service compared to other new emerging competitors.
The world has moved on, customers who think BA and British Gas are good obviously haven't.
Time to switch!0 -

Yes, I've been reading on Flyertalk about the redemption bands so that's put me off. Oh well, I have about 300,000 Avios burning a hole in my account and I've always fancied going to Chilie but not at those rates. IB via MAD is certainly more attractive.0
