Disputed car accident claim

Hi
I have a disputed claim. I was turning left into a junction when I had to brake hard as there was a car driving up the middle of the junction i was turning into. Car behind me crashes into the rear of me.
I thought this kind of case was fairly straight forward but after 6 months of not knowing the outcome I rang the Angel Assistance people who told me that the 3rd party insurers were disputing it and have offered a 50-50 settlement. When I asked why they just said that they thought my witness was too far away to have actually witnessed it!
This is surely nonsense?!

Joshferrara - sounds like a straightforward rear end shunt but presumably the other side have given an alternative version of events. Do you know what their allegations are against you?0

As of yet they haven't told me.
I was only 3rd party insured at the time of the accident and pretty much a week after it occured my insurance came up for renewal. I renewed it but then after ringing my insurance company about 3 months into the claims process to see why it hadnt been resolved they told me it was nothing to do with them anymore as they'd passed it on the the solicitors (my legal cover) and so couldn't help me. so, I cancelled it and got a refund on the 3 months I had payed for - after all I didnt have the car i was insured for.
Was this a bad move?
Also, they appointed these people called Help Hire who gave me a hire car on the basis that they'd claim the money from the 3rd party insurers. Help Hire seem to be doing all the work and not the solicitors. They took the hire car from me last month as my hire agreement expired and as they were disputing it they couldnt give me a new one. So now, I can't do alot of my self emplyed work!
And then there's these Angel Assitance people who I think are something to do with Help Hire. Why are there so many companies involved and why is this taking so long?!?!
cheers guys0 -
Yes angel act for help hire - they are a nuisance
you are reponsible for the hire charges - ie if they do not recover them from the other side they will pursue you for them!0 -
Dude this is why you have to always be prepared for accidents like this. You could have avoided this mess if you had gathered as much evidence as possible there, at the scene of the accident.
Car accident claims - here you can find a good article on how to proceed after being involved in a car accident.0 -
Not so much a good article.
You have trawled to find this ancient thread just to post a link to a lawyers (specialising in claims) website!0 -
Look out for one that is reputable and doesn't stoop to posting badly spelt posts and a link on a board where no advertising or links are allowed.0
