Help! Accidently Dual Insured thanks to stupid automatic renewal

Car Insurance renewal time is here and it appears I've been dual insured for a year.
Looks like Kwikfit automatically renewed me (at a ridiculous 67% increase!) last year which I missed (I know, I know, must check credit card statement more thoroughly etc).
I have spoken to Kwikfit and cancelled that policy with immediate affect but can I get the rest of the money back? Anyone have any experience with this?
I'm soooooooo embarrassed as I'm usually so careful and ALWAYS shop around and follow Martin's advice for the best deals with cash back etc.

Hope someone can help.
Thanks!

You need to phone both Insurers and discuss ' dual insurance' refund procedure. They will explain the process. It happens all of the time. Once each Insurers has all of the information, it can be resolved, so you can obtain relevant refund. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0

Contact Kwikfit and explain the situation to them, if you send them a copy of your other insurance policy they maybe able to backdate cancellation to inception.0
