Ford Ambassador Scheme Q

Hey guys, so a friend is an employee at Jag/LR and can set friends up on the ambassador scheme (I'm not family so not the privilege scheme), and I have a couple of Qs he couldn't answer...
Can I lease the ford from any dealer, even online (lings?
Is it genuinely cheaper than other lease deals out there?
I noticed the minimum term of payments is 9 months, what is the penalty of cancelling after this period?
I understand privilege has a 1 month payment deposit, but does the ambassador as well?
Only asking because I couldn't find a copy of the policy terms online, if anyone can link me to it that'd be perfect.
Thanks in advance

Has your friend actually nominated you yet?
Probably not if you don't have the full terms & conditions. He needs to ensure you have these as his job could be on the line if the terms are not adhered to.
I'm sure your friend knows this, but if in doubt, advise him to visit his local HR office who will provide full details (or point him to HR online accessed via the intranet)
(If you have been given the appropriate nomination details, then any Ford dealer should be able to assist you too ... but they may initially be a little dumbstruck unless you visit a dealer that is used to selling to employees)
Anyway, as far as I am aware, it covers the purchase of a new car, not leasing.
(Unless you mean one of the various finance packages offered in relation to purchasing a new car)
The last time I looked, the discount offered on a new car was half of that of the Privilege scheme (employee discount scheme) - discounts vary according to model purchased.
The discount is in addition to any other discounts that may be offered by the dealer, (i.e what a retail customer could otherwise negotiate) as with the voucher, the dealer can recover that extra discount direct from Ford.0 -
Thanks for the info Thunderella. I've known him my whole life, he knows I'm as low risk as it gets.
He's not yet nominated me as you say, but I wouldn't want to be nominated until I can compare the prices.
If it's for the purchase of a vehicle could you make the order through a car broker to get past the BS deals they have on?

Purchase of the new Ford vehicle must be through a Ford dealership.
I very much doubt you can use a broker as (a) they will have no idea how the scheme works, nor access to it and (b) the dealership will be required to receive the voucher and undertake eligibilty checks to offer the discount to you
(all these terms will be explained if you are nominated to receive a voucher ... and I'm sure 99.9% of employees know the terms or where they can find the details from)
As I said, the discount is in addition to any other discounts that may be offered by the dealer, (i.e what a retail customer could otherwise negotiate).
Your friend will be able to provide you details of these additional discounts available.
If your friend asks his co-workers about where they recently got the best deals, he typically get a couple of answers
(a) the local dealership (for those who don't want to bother looking around, or don't want to travel to another dealership (or pay to have a car delivered) and presumably don't care about saving an additional £100 or so
(b) one or two dealerships anywhere in the UK that like the additional turnover cheap, employee car sales provides them, not to mention dealer incentives offered by manufacturers for shifting the cars they produce - these tend to give the price without the typical BS you refer to.
Or your friend can simply look in the employees car park to see where the majority of new cars have been sourced from recently.
If your friend does nominate you and so you revceive the appropriate voucher, if you fail to actually use it (i.e. order a vehicle) then the voucher can always be returned and cancelled, so that your friend can then nominate someone else instead.
But I understand you wouldn't necessarily want to burden your friend with this process if you don't actually plan to buy a new Ford in the first place. But if you are interested, speak to your friend as I'm sure he will be able to tell you all about the scheme ... and check you are eligible in principle to receive it, and that you would be happy to abide by the associated terms of buying a new car through the scheme, before he agrees to nominate you.0
