Ridiculous Santander Charges

Hi,
Can anyone help? We have a Santander current account but now live in Australia. We still use the account every so often. Recently we mistakenly went overdrawn. As soon as I noticed our error I transferred money over from Australia to pay whatever the fee was and to put us back into the black.
However the fee was 78 POUNDS!!!! This is a ridiculous amount of money. Yes- we made a mistake and it's our fault. I fully expected to be charged 25 or 30 pounds but this is way out of balance.
What can I do???!! I've sent a secure message complaint to Santander but do I have any grounds to get some of the money back?
Thanks!

Hi,
the unarranged overdraft fee is £6 a day so looks as though you were overdrawn 13 days.
Arranged Overdraft Usage Fees £1 a day in each monthly statement period

This charging scheme is now very common in the UK and as its in their T&Cs you have no legal right to any refund. It is, however, suggested on these boards that banks sometimes waive at least part of the fee on first offences if you ask nicely.0
