Many thanks for all your responses. I do genuinely appreciate your tough-love "suck it up/first-world problems" advice and the sense of perspective you're trying to impart.
But, speaking as someone who had a pension with Equitable Life, I think I'll retain my bitterness and mistrust of the financial services industry if it's all the same to you. Its ability to get off lightly for dopey negligence at best, arrogant criminality at worst, is breathtaking. I'm not the only one who believes that 8 per cent interest is no punishment for systematically defrauding their customers, several of whom are vulnerable people who will never gain redress.
Millions of others are clearly content with their Brexit vote, which is why I don't believe in the wisdom of crowds. But I digress – apologies.0
