Buildings Insurance crossover

Options
Hi

I have provisional exchange date of next Wednesday and I know I need to have buildings insurance in place from then on my new property however we do not intend to complete until after my building insurance renewal is due on my current property.

It is right that I renew my current property and have a crossover period running?
If so are there any short-term home insurance options out there?
I've googled and it seems that short-term home insurance policies are geared towards people leaving properties unoccupied for more than 30 days - mine won't be but I assume it's still the right product for my situation?

thanks

Just renew (or switch to different insurer) at your current address, and then take that with you when you go. Give them a ring and ask, but most let you move your home insurance and cover both properties for you between exchange and completion.
