Anyone been to Vietnam? We're going in September.

Hi all.

I'm posting here for advice on Vietnam. My wife and I are going in mid September 2016. We'd like answers to a few things. Firstly it is important to say that we are flying from UK to Ho Chi Min on or around 10th September 2016. Our return home is approximately14 days later. We can be a little flexible on flight dates (nothing is actually set in stone yet). I would love your input on the weather in September. We have looked at loads of web sites and the information is conflicting. Also, is there anything you guys recommend we (my wife & I) should do or suggest some places to visit or things to do.
Thank you in advance.

Lots of people have been to Vietnam and posted on various threads about their experiences, I suggest you do a search and read some of them first.

Had a v.enjoyable 4 weeks all last September. You might be able to pick a tip or two out of the following...

One tip though, if you've only got a couple of weeks, don't over commit yourself, and beware that while internal flights are fairly cheap they do get rescheduled, delayed or cancelled, which will waste a bit of the precious time you have. And don't be tempted by overnight road travel, it's dangerous.

Great country, your £ goes a long way.

Note that a stay of more than 15 days in Vietnam (with a UK passport) requires a visa.

I think the current 15 day visa exemption for UK passport holders is only valid until the end of this June, and a decision on whether it will be extended is awaited. Daft if they don't extend though.

Best to keep an eye on Trip Advisor, which will be updated v.quickly once there is any news.

If a visa is required, then it's v.v.easy to get a Visa Authority Letter online @ https://www.vietnamvisapro.net.

I loved Vietnam, even the buzz of HCM, although 3 nights there was enough

Depends on the state of the economy and future returns really.

No guarantee on investment returns so always pays to keep aware and monitor savings and investments on an ongoing basis.

Oops - doshwaster, do you want to swap?

Expedia sometimes has good deals in Vietnam Airlines premium economy.

Actually, I wrote a really long to reply to this earlier - then my computer died before I could submit. So I will summarise: Vietnam = yes. Fantastic country, friendly people, great value for money (12p for a beer!) and stunning scenery. What's not to like?
