refused student account - worth appealing?

Hello!
I'm starting a PGCE in September and would like to have an overdraft as a safety net. I applied for an account with Co-Op but was turned down. As far as I'm aware, my credit score is pretty reasonable. I do have quite a bit of credit card debt (on 0% balance transfer cards) but I'm paying this off steadily and haven't gone into arrears at any point. I'm guessing the credit cards are why I was declined but is there any point appealing the decision? I don't want to try another bank and risk another decline if the credit cards are the issue as there's nothing I can do about them until I've paid them off.
Thanks for any and all help!

You could try and ask the Co-op why they refused you0

I have a loan I'm paying back and also a credit card but was able to get a student account.
The stipulations for a student account though are usually that you are taking an undergraduate degree course lasting at least 3 years ?
Maybe you were refused an account because a PGCE is postgraduate and therefore you would need to apply for a graduate account ?0
