Moving to Maidstone?

Hi!
I will be moving to Kent in the autumn for a new job. The job is near the centre of Maidstone but I don't know the area at all having been there once very briefly! Where is the best place to live in the area? I would want to be close to Maidstone to avoid a massive commute but I want to live somewhere more rural. I would be renting and looking for a nice area to settle into
Nothing too expensive as this will be my first rental so as you can imagine, I'm not earning mega bucks!
To summarise: pretty rural-ish location, not too far from Maidstone, mid range price area, preferably a English countryside kind of feel to it!
Thanks guys!

Marden is a town / village I know well and its stunning! Rural and beautiful. Has a station you can get the train in or 20 minute odd drive. It is an expensive area though!

What facilities do you need close to you? Doctors? Shop? Bank? Pub? Bus stop? Train station?0

I don't really need anything particularly close as I can drive wherever I need to go. As long as it's 20-30 minutes drive to Maidstone town centre.0

Depends how much you wish to spend. Maidstone and especially surrounding rural areas can be pretty expensive.0

West Malling and Aylesford are scenic villages, both close to Maidstone and also have trains (including London trains from West Malling) - but all depends on your price range.0

Teynham and other nearby villages which are just outside of Sittingbourne are lovely and you can drive to maidstone within 20-30 mins particularly if you use country lanes.
The advantage to these is they are more reasonable rental prices than maidstone itself and the villages the other side of Maidstone as these are on the pricey side nearing Tonbridge and Tonbridge wells. If you stay the Sittingbourne and possibly outskirts of ashford side it's more reasonable. To be honest any of the villages are lovely. Sittingbourne itself is ok to drive through for maidstone its just not great to live in unless on outskirts.0 -

Marden - Paddock Wood - Maidstone is not the greatest train journey in the World.
I would suggest Lenham and Harriestsham on the Ashford line - then there is a choice of train or car.0
