Compensation for unnaceptable food

Food is very much individual taste, I'm afraid. If you read reviews on TripAdvisor, you might find 9 out of 10 favourable reviews for hotel food, but there will always be someone who doesn't like it for some reason. Our hotel in Ibiza has a nice (in my eyes) mix of Spanish and international food, and most people love it, but every now and again, someone will moan about it.0

I'm going to go against the grain here, and say you may be able to because I did once.
The food was very poor quality and (as one example) my mother was served liver as the vegetarian option.
Make a formal written complaint to the hotel and the rep. Record specific examples. Get statements and contact details from any other guests who agree with you. If you do eat out, get receipts and keep it reasonable because if you don't get any redress on your return you don't want to be hugely out of pocket.
Just don't bank in getting anything. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Any restaurant/hotel which did that is either bonkers or clueless.I'm going to go against the grain here, and say you may be able to because I did once.

As the OP hasn't enlarged on his issue with the food, it's hard to agree or disagree that it really is poor.0 -

Corfu generally has two types of all inclusive, cheap and nasty and ridiculously expensive and not worth the money. I would never ever go all inclusive in Greece as the food there is delicious and cheap! There is one hotel called the telemachos in corfu which is renowned for having 'awful food' however it's the cheapest AI in corfu, often cheaper than other decent self catering properties at less than £15 a night at this time of year! The food is typically Greek, with continental style breakfasts, salads for lunch and stews for dinner but at such low prices seriously what do people expect?! Obviously you may not be staying here but if you are you certainly didn't read any reviews before you went.Lea

I'm a sort of vegetarian. I eat meat but then feel guilty about it afterwards.“Learn from the mistakes of others. You can never live long enough to make them all yourself.”

You can call yourself a flexitarian and then it will be allowed.pendragon_arther wrote: »I'm a sort of vegetarian. I eat meat but then feel guilty about it afterwards.
Were you brought up as a Catholic? Excellent training for feeling guilty.0 -
My 2 cents- take to Google reviews for the tour company and the hotel. And do it fast. What you write doesn't matter- it should be a behemoth review- like atleast 600 words long. Be very detailed in how the food sucks.
I've done this effectively to get tour companies to ring me up about the review.
If the tour company/hotel doesn't have a Google business listing, take to other review websites like Yelp/business listings and review them there too.0 -
Food is subjective. Different people like different foods, cooked differently. I'm not sure why anyone would want AI in Greece, or many European countries. They're hardly the home of AI and don't do it well IMO. Hardly surprising given the pittance the Tour Ops pay the hotels for it.
Unless you an prove the food made you ill, or is a known problem with lot's of complaints, complaining will get you nowhere. You'll just come across a someone who moans. Lot's of people take photos of food, be it good or bad.0
