Car insurance mistake

Hello,
Really need some advice!
My partner and I share a car, when we insured it we paid the full year cost.
We was due to renew this month so rang to get a quote with our insurance company. However, with the policy we already have, it turned out my partner got his years he has been driving wrong, by ONE year. So he originally told them it was 2010 he got his licence but it was 2011. They have now said we owe them £1663! When we got the policy it cost £1193?! Am I wrong for thinking that asking for another £1663 is steep for one year mistake ?
We are getting married in 4 months and we just can't afford the money they are asking for!
Any ideas on where we stand with this, if we can stand at all
Any advice would be greatly appreciated !
Thank you

Ring up a couple of other companies and see if they come up with the same or similar price..
Its not for a mistake, that amount plus what you actually paid paid would have been the cost of the insurnace for the year..Your partner has one years less experience than he actually told them.
You have no choice but to pay it.... if you want other insurance for this year and next and the next etc
Ask if you can pay it in installments.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Did you insure with a Broker or an actual insurer? You can usually find this out by looking at your policy documents, they will tell you who it's underwritten by. If whoever it's underwritten by is differect, you're with a broker. Ask them if they would consider a cancel/replace (if they offer it they will explain it to you). They will cancel the incorrect policy for you, and set you up on a new one. As a general rule, any refund from the cancellation goes towards a new policy, and you won't pay cancellation fees as you're still with them. If you're with an insurer, I'm not sure they would offer it, so ask about payment plans
