Rental property inspections

If the agent hasn't identified anything major from the first inspection (no cannabis farm etc) the landlord may be more relaxed about doing them so frequently in the future, although as theartfullodger says it's probably the agent trying to justify their fees to the landlord.
Some tenancy agreements specify an inspection after 3 months and then every 6 months, but in practice they don't always bother, especially if the rent is paid on time.
It's still your home not the agent's so take it easy.0 -
we have them every 2 months and they are SUCH a pain I hate them. We cant refuse as its in our contract but they don't do anything they are meant to and the same issues are noted time and time and time again. Cant wait to move away from these agents!!

Well you can refuse. You've chosen not to.0 -
Errr.... yes you can.Brightspark87 wrote: »we have them every 2 months and they are SUCH a pain I hate them. We cant refuse as its in our contract
but use the approach I provided above or similar.
Of course, if they absolutley insist, the ultimate move is to change the locks. You might get a S21 Notice for when your fixed term ends, but what a stupid landlord! to evict a relying, paying tenant just because he objects to 2 monthly inspections......0 -

Hi Nope we were told they would then ask us to move out as I refused the first one.
To be honest this was the least of the problems but as a tenant scared of being issued a S21 notice you don't feel you have much choice. We were just on a monthly rolling contract so they could have made us move and then we would have had to sign a new tenancy for 6 months or find a house and buy within 2 months.
I understand you can refuse but when you are worried about having to move out and spending £££ you don't have its a catch 22 situation.

If you see my other threads you will see they come in without asking and last time left the grill on! I wanted to change the locks but they said if we did they would issue a S21 notice. As we didn't have a house to buy at the stage (well V.Early stages of liking one) and didnt want to sign a new 6 month lease somewhere else (and spend ££££) we felt we couldn't.

What you do in the privacy of your own home is, I believe, your own affair.
But advocating the use of illegal drugs on a public forum is not wise....
I think the use of the word 'coke' was in relation to coca cola and giving the kids extra caffeine and sugar.... Not the other sort of "coke"

Or stay beyond the s.21 and still be there in 4/5 months time.0
