13-week protection
8.010 The customer can have their eligible rent protected for 13 weeks
where a relevant authority is satisfied that the customer:
• was able to pay the rent on their accommodation when their
tenancy began, and
• had not previously been entitled to HB in the 52-week period
before their claim
HB and HB (SPC) Reg 12D(5)
Could you afford to pay your rent when you moved in and have you claimed Housing Benefit in the previous 52 weeks? These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.0 -

So it doesn't mater about income changing or wot income I am on at anytime from tenancy start to HB application? All the matters is that I am not in arrears (could afford the rent) and have never claimed HB before? I am in Northern Ireland by the way??OD £2,500 cleared onto Money Transfer

Request 13 weeks protection - they will either say yes or no. If they say no ask for a reconsideration. These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.0
