Credit Card or Loan?

Hi there,
I'd appreciate some advice from some informed money savers!
Naturally I've been through the stuff on the site, but I'm having a hard time deciding exactly what to do.
I need to borrow for two things - firstly for an engagement ring and secondly to expand my business. I should note that while it's for business it's actually going to be a personal loan.
I want the engagement ring in the foreseeable future and am considering applying for the Clydesdale 20 months interest free card to do this.
On the other hand, while I'm not 100% ready for the loan yet, I am going to get it and I'm wondering whether I should just lump both together instead. Already have some small amount of credit and have not long bought my first house. Would hate to get the credit card to find I can't get the loan, though my credit rating was awesome before getting the house and a sofa on monthly repayments.
Any thoughts would be appreciated!
All the best,
Ben
