Claiming JSA

Hi, can you submit an application to receive JSA because my mum thinks otherwise and is getting confused saying the Department of Work and Pensions can help you find work, but I am not sure you can receive JSA while you are studying at college full-time? She is just not getting it!

Full-time students aren't eligible for JSA.
Some part-time students can be, but it's quite rare.
If you've recently completed your final Uni exams, you usually have to wait until after the official term ends before you can claim JSA/UC, ie usually August (or the final week of July, whenever Student Loans are paid until too). Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer. If they wanted morality or the view of the IoD or Bank they'd ask them.0 -
Do you receive DLA?
Full time students can claim JSA (Or other Inome Related benefit) if they also receive DLA. Otherwise it is a no.0 -

Note that I said or other income related benefit. It may not be JSA that you should actually claim. Depending on your health condition it could be ESA.
JSA will still take into account the amount of hours, restriction of availability etc. when making their decision but DLA means that Income Related benefits are open to you.0
