Hope someone can tell me where I stand with this?! I'm trying desperately to pay someone for my Gas bill but no one is owning up to supplying my property!?
I moved in to a rented property back in Dec 2015. When i got the keys, my letting agent advised that the supplier for gas and electric was being transferred to E-On from British Gas.
I contacted E-on in Jan, Feb and March and struggled to get a response, I had had an electricity bill from E-on but not one for gas. E-on finally advised that British Gas had put a stop on the transfer of gas as the previous tenant was in debt and advised me to speak to British Gas. Which I did.
On speaking to British Gas, they advised they were not supplying the property currently and that they had closed the account for the previous tenant. They asked for my gas meter serial number and reading which I sent to them. They advised they couldn't locate my meter on the system and was unable to set up an account against the serial number I had provided and they asked me to send them pictures of my meter, which I did. I then received a response to say the senior customer advisor would be in touch to try and rectify the issue asap. Exactly one month later, after me chasing British gas they responded only to say they do not supply my property and I should contact the independent pipeline ltd to see who does supply me. I did this, and also contact E-on just to make sure in the meantime a gas account had been set up with them and they both advised it was in fact British Gas still supplying my property.
I'm at a loss at what to do now, and I am due to move out the property in the first wee of July and I haven't paid a gas bill in all the time I have been there, with both E-on and British Gas saying they do not supply me.
Where do I stand with this? i haven't had a bill so cant pay anyone anything?!
Please help

Contact the Meter Point Administration Service to find out who your gas supplier is.
Meter Point Administration Service
Telephone: 0870 608 1524
They can also give you your Meter Point Reference Number0 -
They also advise it is British Gas, but British Gas just keep saying its not them supplying and they haven't been since December.0

If MPAS say it is BG then they are the registered supplier. Time to WRITE a formal complaint.0

Don't forget to advise the supplier of your final meter reading when you move out, and provide them with a forwarding address. I'm sure a bill be be forthcoming eventually
Unfortunately, as you didn't sort this out last year when you first moved to the property, then it would appear you didn't request any other tariff at the time, so I suspect that bill will be based on the suppliers expensive variable rate tariff when it is finally produced.
Still, at least you've so far had 5 months interest free credit, and presumably will have a bit more interest free credit before this is finally resolved.0
