Free boilers? Really?
If so, send them round here. I'll take all the free boilers he can give me
Probably you should post this on the Freebies (no spend required) board, if this is genuine.
I dunno about Peter12345...
I think if you post it there, it's going to me more like 10, 9, 8,...0 -
As above - no-one is going to give out free boilers. About the only possible thing I can think of is that the boiler is "free", but they'll charge £3000 labour to install it.
As the old mantra goes : If it sounds to good to be true, it almost certainly is.0 -

Exactly what I was going to post.
In our area there is another sudden burst of iffy window/ kitchen/boiler scrappage schemes.0 -
Isn't there some kind of scheme where the government will buy you a new boiler...?

Yep it is a government scheme, I think our old one was given free?
Is it some kind of government scam? When you look into an abyss, the abyss also looks into you. Nietzsche

It's not necessarily a "government scam"
You may be eligible for a grant towards replacing your current boiler from an energy company. But ONLY IF:
You're on certain benefits (e.g. child tax credits); and
Your existing boiler is highly inefficient.
The amount of grant you receive depends on how much efficiency would improve by fitting a new boiler. It might be enough to cover the full cost of the boiler or you might have to pay a contribution towards the cost.
On the other hand, it could be a scam - free boiler but £3,000 to install it, free boiler provided you pay £20/mth service charge for the next 10 years etc.
Up to you whether you want to look into it more but, based on what you say, I'd be surprised if you would qualify for a grant, your boiler doesn't sound old enough.0
