Email forwarding problems with Gmail and then Apple mail

i have used automatic forwarding with Gmail many times. Tried again recently and although the emails are forwarded automatically with attachments, they are arriving about 1 hour later. Time is important.

I am receiving emails from a friend in exactly the same way through their gmail account and mine arrives at the same time as theirs. Exactly how mine has always worked in the past.

Decided to use Apple mail rules instead. This forwards the emails immediately, but not the attachments which are being stripped out for some reason.

Any ideas how I can get either or both to work please?
