Removing credit account I have never applied for

I ordered an item for £14 on 27/11/2014 from The Brilliant Gift Shop. There was an option to open an account on credit which I declined and paid using my debit card. Fast forward to April 2016 and I receive a random email thanking me for my recent credit application! First though was it was fraudulent so I telephoned them to say I hadn't applied for anything. I was told the account had always been on there and even when I told her it has never been on my credit file she argued that it probably wouldn't be??? Obviously complete rubbish so I got her to close it immediately and waited until my next credit report was due. It advises me that I have indeed opened a new credit account as of last month! Am furious!! Can I ask to have it removed? There will be absolutely no proof of me opening this account as I didn't do it. Haven't even been near the site since for months if at all since the first order. Thanks in advance for any help

They have opened an account that you did not ask for - presumably with a nil balance. I understand that this is a frustration but you have contacted them and they have closed it.

If you want to you can advise the CRA that you did not open the account and they may remove it but, as it is already closed there seems little more to be done. What outcome are you looking for?
